Manchester Aquatics Centre hosts an Olympic-sized swimming pool and fully-equipped gyms for performance, cardio and resistance training, as well as a health suite with a spa, sauna and steam room.
However, high humidity environments play havoc with cabling. As a result, Manchester Aquatics Centre required the replacement of all existing data cabling, and for new cabling to be installed for Wi-Fi connectivity and CCTV.
OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW
As a facility relied upon by all members of the community, it was essential for Manchester Aquatic Centre to continue to operate at peak connectivity.
We were instructed to replace all existing cabling with new Cat5e data cables. The high humidity environment and use of Chloramines at the centre had resulted in existing data outlets and connections suffering corrosion, effecting all connectivity.
In order to ensure minimal disruption to customer experience, cabling in customer-facing locations – reception desk tills and television screens, and fast-track entry and exit systems, for example – was carried out overnight.
The project also involved the relocation of an existing communication cabinet and the supply and installation of a new cabinet to accommodate the installation of new Cat5e data cables for 54 CCTV cameras.
