HIGH PERFORMANCE CABLING
We were approached by Muntons to support their “Man Down” project – the aim of which was to improve on-site communications should an employee be in need of help, particularly during an emergency.

With health and safety at the top of the Muntons’ agenda, the company was eager to ensure that if an accident occurred anywhere on their highly-industrialised site, a member of staff could summon assistance.

To overcome issues with poor mobile phone signal, a Dect phone system was installed. A detailed site survey was carried out to identify strategic positions for base stations and new IPrated communications cabinets. From each satellite communications cabinet data cables were then installed to the Dect base stations.

The unseasonal and adverse weather conditions of February and March 2018 (snow in spring!) made cabling particularly challenging. Not to mention the Dect base stations themselves were positioned up high, on top of gantries around the site or on top of 30/40-metre-high grain silos. However, our engineers rose to the challenge and scaled new heights to ensure the success of the “Man Down” project in providing on-site safety to Muntons’ employees.
